About NJ Electricians

Currently this blog is dedicated to educating the general public in New Jersey about electrical issues, and now, solar panel installation.  I also like to throw in some info for other electricians.  If there’s anything you’d like to see my write about, just let me know!  Except for a few guest posts from other electricians, all the content on the site is written by me.

I am a retired licensed and insured electrician in the state of New Jersey so feel free to ask me any questions or suggest whatever you would like me to write about!

“Licensed electricians have been trained to understand complex wiring systems and understand how each wire relates back to your fuses, circuit breakers, and grounding wires. Allowing an electrician to complete simple home tasks is usually quite affordable and will reduce your risk of exposure to electrical hazards like electrocution or fires caused by faulty wiring.” [Conductive Electric]

It does not matter what state you reside in. Calling on a professional electrician is usually a pretty smart thing to do before you go and cause damage to your property or yourself.

You should always employ a qualified electrician to carry out regular maintenance tasks.

Very often, when one part of your system needs to be replaced (i.e. fuseboard/consumer unit etc) then other parts of the system are not far behind.

Unfortunately most wiring is hidden behind stud walls and so are not visible to the client. “Out of sight out of mind” usually means they are quite reluctant to shell out for a full rewire, even though thorough testing of their wiring deems it necessary :-S

Oh well, they can’t argue ignorance…

I agree with you Jeff, I have always been afraid of doing any electrical work because of the fear of getting electrocuted.

I know there are a lot of DIY’ers who like to take matters into their own hands, and some do a decent job. But, when it comes to electrical work you’ve got to know you limitations and hire a professional when needed since messing with electricity can be a dangerous game as well as costly if you do it wrong.

I certainly agree licensed electricians know their craft and its just one phone call away to reach them.
